We hope you all enjoyed the traditional log cabin Christmas Markets which took place during November and December in Workington, Carlisle and Barrow. Morton Garden Buildings Ltd made all the cabins last year for use at such markets around the county. We erect them on site then take them down and move them to storage at the end of the market. The cabins will then be re-erected as and when needed. A very good investment for the organisers, as these cabins will last for years to come, even when they have been moved so many times. The sturdy construction offers protection from the elements for the stall holders and a large area to display their goods. Give us a call if you would like to to discuss your event, whatever it may be.

With the increase in VAT to 20% last January, the last thing we expected this year was to be inundated with orders. Not that we are complaining! After the New Year we sold off all our display buildings with the intention of replacing them immediately with new and updated designs. However, we have been so busy trying to fulfill orders that the display ground has had to take a back seat. However, our priority after the Christams break is to re-stock the showground with some of our tried and tested favourites and some new designs. We thank you for your paitence over the last year and look forward to welcoming you back again. As most of our business is returning customers or reccommendations from past customers, we invite you all to come and see what we have available in 2012. You can be assured of a very high standard of service at all times.

I have stated in the preface to the first Edition of this work, and in the Zoology of the Voyage of the Beagle, that it was in consequence of a wish expressed by Captain Fitz Roy, of having some scientific person on board, accompanied by an offer from him of giving up part of his own accommodations, that I volunteered my services, which received, through the kindness of the hydrographer, Captain Beaufort, the sanction of the Lords of the Admiralty.
